Purchased a Pub…cookbook

Since my husband was using his 40% off coupon at Half Price Books on a science fiction dvd, I decided I could use mine on a cookbook.

The store in Cleveland had a display for Saint Patrick’s Day weekend. The little island of books included at least three related to Irish food.  A Trifle, a Coddle, a Fry: An Irish Literary Cookbook by Veronica Jane O’Mara, Fionnuala O’Reilly included black and white photos of the authors, but the recipes didn’t look very enticing.  Instead, I chose Irish Pub Cooking . It has a full-page photo of each food item with the recipe. They also look like things that we saw in Limerick and Dublin 6 years ago.

Tonight I tried a few of the recipes, tweaking the ham & pea soup, because my on-hand ingredients weren’t the same as theirs.

We had Reuben sandwiches for dinner. No, they aren’t Irish, but corned beef and cabbage would have counted, no?
