WOKing With What You’ve Got

Recipes from all corners of the globe can be found online. However, the listed ingredients aren’t always so easy to obtain. Since not all of us have Emeril’s pantry, we learn to substitute.

  This evening I wanted to try “Ants Climbing a Tree”, a dish that one of my ESL students had found when studying Asian history. The Food Network’s recipe is here, and below is a list of the ingredients that were available in my neck of the woods.

Maizena
ginger
green onion
Exito brand aji en conserva (picante)
Maggi chicken boullion cube
soy sauce
Peter Pan peanut butter
carrots
sesame seed oil
vermicelli rice noodles
