Springtime of Shepherd’s Pie

I decided to try another recipe for Shepherd’s Pie this morning, and to actually go out and buy the ingredients that I needed, rather than just use whatever I had onhand.

2 Sliced Carrots

1 chopped onion

1 lb ground beef

1 beef boullion cube

1/2 c ketchup

3 T Wochestershire sauce

1 T garlic paste

2 T flour

2 T butter

3 potatoes

parmesean cheese

Brown the ground beef with the boullion cube, garlic paste and chopped onion. Add the ketchup and Worchestershire sauce. In a separate pan, make a roux from the butter and flour, then add some milk and water to make a gravy. Mix the gravy, meat and carrots together.

Chop the potatoes and boil them until they are tender enough to mash. Add butter and salt, to taste, along with parmesean cheese to the mashed potatoes.

Put the meat-vegetable mixture in a baking dish. Spoon the mashed potatoes on top. Bake in a 350*F oven until (warmed through if you started with a cold casserole) the top is golden.
