Alejandro and Maricela invited us to lunch at 2p.m. on Thursday. They live across the street from Joel’s parents. Their home town is Durango. Sooo. We were supposed to come over to try their special hamburgers. The special ingredient is a slice of grilled pineapple. No. It isn’t what some USA restaurants market as a Hawaiian burger; they don’t come basted in teriaki glaze.
Maricela also made crema de francesa from scratch. You might imagine what it tastes like by combining flan and cheesecake…no crust.
Our coffee was typical Mexican: instant (Folger’s decaf). The Splenda and milk helped.
